My Contributions

Player Controller: Grappling, Slowing, and Strafing

For Moonset, I developed the game’s player controller. Using Unity’s Physics system as a base, we created a fun environment for players to experiment with their abilities, finding new jumps and shortcuts to achieve the fastest time.

Due to my experience developing the player controller, I played a leading role in level design. Creating stages that emphasized maneuverability and speed.

During playtesting, we discovered an exploit that allowed players to launch themselves in a straight line at a rapid velocity. This allowed us to embrace the unintended interaction as a fun player ability. I created a mechanic that allowed the player to control their momentum mid-air. The player can strafe and curve their trajectory by aiming in a direction and holding forward.

Allowing Players To Do This!
